DKM, a Korean motor manufacturer, is expanding its lineup of motors and gearbox to lead the global motor market. Since its establishment in 1983, DKM has started selling Korean first ‘small precision geared motor’ noticing that all motors used in the country depend on imports.
A Korean motor manufacturer DKM which focused on small AC motors in the early days of its establishment, has continued to focus on research and development and is introducing various new products in the direction of increasing the volume of its products.
In this regard, a DKM official said, "Since its establishment, we have been continuously developing and launching products as a small AC motor manufacturer. We started with products below 90W in the early days and expanded our product lineup to 400W, and recently diversified our product volume by launching a Helicross orthogonal axis gearbox that is excellent in terms of efficiency, strength, and noise."
The recently released DSY series 'Helicross Gearbox' uses a special steel material with high-strength heat treatment, is durable with an angle optimization design and features noticeably low noise and vibration. Compared to the hollow worm gearbox, it can be said that it is a product that concentrates the technology of DKM with high efficiency and less heating.
DKM believes the Helicross Gearbox will be able to bring out higher usability even for mobile robots that mainly used worm gearbox before. Existing mobile robots were unable to move mobile robots manually when power was cut off due to the worm reducer's self-locking (the characteristic of maintaining its own load), but if a Helicross Gearbox is used instead, the mobile robot can be pushed or pulled directly even after the power is cut off.
Regarding the new product development plan, a DKM official said, "Since the establishment of the company, we have developed small precision geared motors, related decelerators, and controllers, consolidating our position as a motor manufacturer. In the future, the company will continue to develop into a comprehensive motor manufacturer by developing diverse motor lineups, gearbox and controllers required by the market."
